Arquitextura
Arquitextura (2009) sought to expand Gérard Genette’s theory of the architext, and it’s relationship to poetics, into physical space. I created a flexible architectural and sonic structure in order to rethink the ways in which a text can create meaning. Along with the space, I curated cross-disciplinary collaborations between writers and sound artists, which produced the sound content for each city where the piece was presented (Monterrey and Tijuana). Here, the notions of transtextuality and the architext (the text as an ever-changing entity perpetually engaged in a network of meanings) are reinforced as the site, the structure and the texts themselves work together to create fluid meanings.
