Textos Devastados

Textos Devastados (2004)  were a series of poetic texts written by members of the collective La Línea Interdisciplinario and inserted into the cityscapes of Tijuana and San Ysidro.  Many of the texts were situated around construction and at the port of entry, while others were intersperse throughout the cities. We chose caution tape as the vehicle for our texts in a region where the precariousness of growth and violence are both constants. A yellow line is an innocuous sight in the the region’s visual lexicon, one which describes diverse relationships to the environment, economy, and to violence

La Línea Interdisciplinario was a binational feminist collective that used language as a point of departure to create visual and literary works.  Members included:  Amaranta Caballero, Abril Castro, Jenny Donovan, Kara Lynch, Lorena Mancilla, and Sayak Valencia.
