Fata Morgana

Fata Morgana (2004) was a collaborative video installation by Davina Semo and myself that emerged out of a 3-month long dialogue about the concept of “post-queer,” which resulted in the exhibition Paradigm Proliferation Promiscuity Perversion.  The project explored the physical possibilities of sexuality and sex when gender is fully unhinged from biology.  We used shadow puppet monsters, and with them abstract form, and environmental elements: rhythm, sound, textures and colors to communicate degrees of sexuality and play.   We were dealing with sex as unknowable, unable to be fixed. Sex as something not  discrete or identifiable, but rather a vague feeling and suspicion: a sensation deep in the body.
